Newsletter December 2018

While waiting for the snow to arrive at below 2000 metres I’ve been organising the summer and autumn weeks and here’s what we have so far; In June a Monterosa hiking week taking in 7 mountain refuges and traveling from Champoluc towards Zermatt and across to Alagne. It’s going to be an adventurous and physical week! In July a week dedicated to yoga, the mountains and the Monterosa Yoga Festival. Mid July we get on the mountain bikes for trail riding across the mountains culminating in the Prestige mountain bike marathon event. I feel exhausted just telling you about it!

The Spiritual weeks which we run in September are also taking shape and already we have a Tai Chi week, a Mindful Singing week and Outdoor Mindfulness and Meditation weeks in the making. All the details of these weeks will be on the web site later this month.

For the winter you can join us on a variety of weeks designed for all ability level skiers with different aspirations. The Mindful Skiing experience is a designated week where improvement in skiing, on and off the piste, your choice, can be gained whilst sampling a taste of mindfulness. You can also have some of this action by the day when you’re in Champoluc throughout 2019 winter. More details of these can be seen here;

Mindful Skiing

The Monterosa region, in the north west Italian Alps, has 18 peaks over 4,000 metres and is Europe’s second highest range of mountains and hosts the highest refuge in Europe; Capanna Margheits sits on Gnifetti peak at 4,554 metres. Here, during the spring, there is some of the best ski touring terrain in the Alps with numerous mountain refuges on hand. Mindful Mountains has two ski touring trips planned for April see here for details;

Ski Touring – Monterosa

The lift accessed skiing tops out on the Indren at 3,275 metres from which off piste skiers have the joy of 2000 metres descents. Apart from the challenging skiing the toughest job is deciding which of the many routes to take! The Monterosa has one of the largest ski lift accessed areas of off piste skiing terrain in the Alps. Mindful Mountains has three dedicated off piste weeks and details can be seen here;

Off Piste

The Monterosa Ski region covers three valleys and links the villages of Champoluc, Gressoney and Alagne with 48 pistes and 28 lifts. The ski runs are a comforting blend of easy blues, many reds and challenging blacks, all of which host an abundance of traditional Italian mountain restaurants. The Monterosa Tour across the area on piste is an awesome way of sampling the warm welcome and the amazing scenery which includes views of the many glaciers and peaks of the Monterosa. Mindful Mountains offers one day Monterosa Tours for red piste skiers which can be seen here;

That’s all from me for now, so until the New Year, wishing you a very Merry Christmas.

Best wishes.
