Journeying – Ski Touring in the Monterosa

18th to 25th April 2026

This Monterosa touring week is devoted to ski touring and off piste back country skiing. We will be journeying across the Monterosa through Gressoney and Alagna and above taking in some awesome descents along the way. The first two nights Saturday and Sunday and the last night, Friday, we will stay at the Hotel Castor in Champoluc.

On the other four nights Monday to Thursday, we will stay in mountain refuges between 2000 and 4000 metres. The details of the route and which Refuges will be decided closer to the time when local snow and weather conditions are known. It will involve using some key uplift on some days and on others it will be purely skinning for ascents.

These weeks are aimed at strong skiers, who are reasonably fit and probably have some experience of ski touring, although good skiers whom are fit and have no experience of ski touring are likely to cope well.

This is a great trip to meet with some likeminded people and have a designated week of touring and back country skiing. Group size will be no bigger than 6 people.

In most cases you will have your own ski touring and safety equipment, however this can be rented from Champoluc if required. If you are unsure about the required equipment, please email me and I will advise.
