Freedom – Mindful Skiing
10th to 17th January and 7th to 14th March 2026
During these weeks we will apply mindfulness principles to learning and improving your skiing. The coaching is designed to move you into mindful learning where self-awareness of body and mind are increased. Coaching and guiding takes place Monday through to Friday. If there is a split in the ability levels then John may divide the group split the sessions.
Early evenings are spent reviewing the day and learning about the applications of mindfulness to skiing. For those people who enjoy yoga there will be some yoga and mindful movement sessions, on some days, after skiing.
Prior knowledge and a practice of mindfulness is not essential, during the week John will share some background information on mindfulness, meditation practices and visualisation.
Skiing ability levels will be around basic paralleling on reds, intermediate, however with small group size maximum 6 people, John can cater for skiers above this level within the group. The focus is on exploring mindfulness in the piste skiing mountain context and not on high level all mountain skiing.
Many people have heard about mindfulness and of its benefits in calming the mind and focusing attention. In these 5 days you will learn how to apply the principles of mindfulness to your skiing and improving you skiing and learning abilities. We will explore and nurture the mind set which will enable you to enjoy the learning and improve your skiing.
The coaching blends traditional methods of learning sports skills with the principles of mindfulness. There is a short video clip below which gives a flavour of the week.
