Mindful Mountains was established in 2010 initially as a way of sharing details about the research I was conducting into mindful learning and skiing. Some of what I looked into can now be found on the Blog page. I have always been interested in how people learn and these studies deepened my curiosity and enabled me to inquire, in some depth, into the role mindfulness can play in the acquisition of skills, particularly in the outdoor mountain environment.
Once my studies were completed in 2014 I taught mindfulness courses, the Mindful Based Living Course, in the UK and continued to coach skiers in the Alps. I then offered mindful skiing weeks which consolidated my approaches and put them to the test. In 2018 I moved to Champoluc near Aosta in, in the northwest Italian Alps. This is now base as it provides some of the best mountain off piste terrain that exists in the Alps, scenery is awesome and the village of Champoluc beautiful.
Mindful Mountains now offers a number of outdoor activity weeks throughout the whole year. Maintaining the skiing focus in the winter, we offer hiking, mountain biking and yoga weeks in the summer and Spiritual Retreats in the autumn. We see ourselves in the Health and Well Being business using the outdoor natural environment to compliment the sporting activity. Our aim is to create experiences which have positive effects on peoples physical and mental health.
